Nothing Left

Our contributor this month is a
genuine mystery writer called Warrior. In the story Warrior is
a she, but in fact could actually be anyone of you, either
male or female. The story reflects something that thousands
of believers go through at some stages of their lives – the
place where you feel like you have nothing left anymore,
you have 'died to yourself'. There seems nothing more to
hang on to - the only place to turn, is to rely and completely
trust in God.

Many artists, singers, musicians,
and ministers have walked this road. You may have been
a person who has scaled the heights, had profile, ministry,
success, a touch of the dream, but now you are hidden,
broken, lost, hurt, shunned, excluded, at the end, unknowing
of the future. Jesus said to rejoice in this place, but
it is not always easy. Warrior's story will encourage
you with God's heart in your situation. There is always
hope with the Lord, because He will never leave you or
forsake you. His thoughts toward you are always good – for
a future and a hope.
Warrior– Nothing Left
Warrior stood drenched in the pouring rain. High on the edge of the cliff
overlooking an angry gray ocean, her eyes searched the horizon not even
knowing what she was looking for anymore. The pain throbbing in her heart
overwhelmed any sense of cold in her body. Back and forth, Warrior's
eyes scanned desperately, searching in the hope that something, anything
would be recognized by her spirit. The daylight had all but gone; the torrential
rain and biting wind tore at her determination to stay there - until an
answer had been found, yet, as the last glimmer of light faded, there was
nothing left to search for on the horizon. Another day had played its tune,
she turned in bitter disappointment; the music was so removed from the
song in her beating heart.
A restless night preceded the coming of dawn. Pain brought her back to the cliff
once again to search the horizon as the sun rose to announce another day of music,
but it all sounded out of tune to Warrior.
Tears welled up in her eyes. "Where is it?" she whispered
to her King.
"Where is what?" a gentle warmth spoke into her spirit.
"My life" she replied, her voice hardly audible as she
held back her sobbing.
Warrior longed for the presence of Majesty; in stillness she stood waiting. "Why
are You so far away?" she whispered. "I am always with you," the
love of Majesty's voice was so clear.
" It doesn't feel like it," she sobbed. Warrior fell
on her knees and bowed her head to the ground. "My life is Yours,
You know that. But it hurts. It all hurts, and nothing makes sense anymore."
She lifted her head and looked to the morning sky as tears paved their way down
her cheeks.
"There's nothing left. There's nothing left of my life." Warrior
said, her voice filled with sadness.
"What do you mean?" asked Majesty gently.
Desperation filled her heart as she spoke. "Every part of my heart hurts.
Every part of my reasoning doesn't work any more, every thing I've ever known
to work, doesn't work any more, Every where I turn I need a miracle, and every
resource I have ever had is no longer there. There is nothing. There's absolutely
nothing. I feel like I'm dying."
"You are," Majesty replied.
Warrior listened to the stillness. She was listening for Majesty's voice, to
hear Love, because it helped her bleeding wounds.
"Child, you thought you had given Me your life but you hadn't.
Yet your heart longed for Me. You can never truly find Me until your life
is stripped away. When your life is gone, you are able to find Mine. When
your ways have gone, then you are able to learn and live in My ways. When
all your resources have gone, then I am able to be your true resource.
I am sorry that it has hurt you so much. I have lived your pain with you.
But please trust Me. I know that letting go of what you know, and what
you have, causes such grief; I understand. But I want you to know this
- when you totally let go I am already carrying you into My heart. I will
not let you fall. When you let it all go, I am able to place you where
you belong …in Me."
"I have no idea what that feels like - I'm so sorry." Warrior's
apology was soft and deep.
"There's no need to apologize; you are saying goodbye to life
as you've known it. Child, letting go of what you know takes time; clinging
on to something new also takes time. The cry of your heart is for Me, and
I have been answering your prayers." Majesty tenderly explained.
"How do I get through each day?" she asked.
"Search for Me. Draw near to Me. Spend time with Me. I'm always
there. You may not always feel Me there, but I am there with you - allow
Me to carry you." Majesty encouraged.
"Some days I can't breathe because of the pain," said
Warrior. "I know. But know that I am breathing on you, sustaining
you whilst you take this journey into My heart." Majesty urged.
"Majesty, some days I can't find You." The tears flowed
from her reddened eyes.
"The day is coming My child, when you won't have to find Me any
more. We will dwell in continual communion, because you will be living
in Me - every moment of every day," said Majesty.
"So is that where I find my life?" Warrior asked, wondering
if she had finally found the answer.
"Yes. Most of My people don’t ever find their true life
whilst on earth." He said. "Why not?" asked
Warrior. "Because they’re not prepared to die," answered
Majesty.
A thick presence of Love filled the air as Warrior watched the sun rise into
the sky. She had struggled so long, her pain so deep, yet, she finally realized
that it was only now that her heart was ready to hear Majesty's truth. To tell
her, that He was using the equation of her life as it was right now, to draw
her into true intimacy with Him.
It was too late to turn back to what was - in her heart she didn't want to go
back anyway. All she wanted was Majesty, and she knew that she would finally
find the music her heart had longed to hear when the journey into Majesty's heart
was complete.
"Majesty…?" she gently spoke.
"I'll never leave you," He whispered. "Never…"
