Poetry is a warm stream, a tributary: a mode that flows within a spiritual river. It races alongside the various shifting currents of the sounds of music, all things visual, and all things written. Poetry smiles at paintings, songs, scripts, books, designs and all things creative, as it passes them by, streaming into our spirit from the hidden world - that river is the Spirit of God. Poetry is an enigma, a catharsis for the mystery’s, the riddles, and the deep complexities of our thoughts and feelings. It is a beautiful gift from God - profoundly prophetic. Poems remind us of our fragility, asking questions, inspiring answers many years hence. Poetry makes more sense after a long time has passed us by.

It is dedicated to every poetic artist dealing with their humanity: carving out love, walking in the world, living in the family, believing in the wilderness, wallpapering the caves, staying in the presence, and still desiring to change the world.

This is a prophetic time when artists of all genres will need to rise up and stir the gifts within them - to discover God’s full destiny for their lives. Poets are often prophets, singers, musicians, painters, designers, writers or artists of various idioms. The depth and maturity of poetry grows with time; it is not just about the craft of words but about Spirit – the place where inspired words comes from, communicating Spirit. Some of this work is written before Stephen became a Christian and reflects early prophetic stirrings, searching, and a valid sense of rawness that still relates to many people - the rest of the rhyme found its expression over the years on Stephen’s Christian journey in ministry.
